Guest Strip Over at Capes and Babes

Nothing clears my artistic palette more than drawing new things! I’m one of Chris Flick’s silent followers not to be confused with silent and deadly. Well not really silent on twitter, but via his websites I don’t leave comments. I send him tweets now and then and an occasional email. He’s nice enough to take time out of his day job and all his other projects to respond to me. He runs his webcomic property Capes & Babes and does another comic CMX Suites and on top of all that he also co-hosts with Matt Stout on The Lightbox Podcast – Illuminating Webcomics.

I appreciate the hard work he does for the comics community and being a great resource for comic making. He wasn’t asking for any guest strips, but when I was working on Straight Face Comics I really would have liked a day off between posts. Here’s my small contribution to the hard work he does.

Here is the thumbnail of my idea, as you can see I initially used Marc and Roy, but then as I thought about the joke some more it made more sense to use Joey’s hardware store reference rather than the comic book store reference. Also everyone loves chicks.

I had to familiarize myself with Joey(Lady) and Roy(Werewolf) and with my guest art I like to re-imagine characters using my style or something I’m trying to improve in my style.

I finalized the sketches and sent it off for Chris’ go ahead. If you’ve read some of the Straight Face Comics, my sense of humor goes a little beyond PG13 and I need a second opinion.
