Guest Strip Over at Big Sandy Gilmore

Congratulations to Matt Stout, his baby girl was just delivery this week. (Also it’s his birthday! Happy Birthday Matt!) Yes, by a stork. Just like the old cartoons where the stork just drops you a baby package. Fortunately for him, it was a human baby and not an elephant or anything weird. In Matt’s upcoming exhaustive schedule he’ll need a little help in trying to keep his webcomic Big Sandy Gilmore updated without having to take a long hiatus.
Matt Stout is part of the duo that record the podcast show The Lightbox Podcast – Illuminating Webcomics. I haven’t met Matt in real life, but he sounds like a really happy friendly guy. Aside from co-hosting a podcast and creating one webcomic, he also produces a second webcomic Community Life!

To give Matt some support, I submitted a guest strip for him to use as he pleases. Preferably in a way that we can show people. Fortunately for you, he’s posted the final image on his site. You can check out the final version of the strip here.

You gotta start somewhere and it really should be a script. I skipped that part and jumped right into paneling out the characters without dialogue and the words just started coming to life!

Of course I can’t draw exactly like Matt and being the first time I drew Matt’s characters, I needed some practice. I’m good, but not THAT good…

I cleaned up the sketches and put the characters together into the thumbed panels, like a magician. Yes, I know magic. Not really, but it’d be amazing if I did. Right? Of course it would!

It’s magic….

I'm glad you liked the strip! I know how hard it gets when trying to post stuff up especially with real life stuff coming up. I hope to have more work out regularly, keep watching! Thanks for the comment twilredpeace!
