Don Padawan

This was a hilarious idea that was tweaked to what you see now. The main characters were dead a few weeks prior and the story arc would have cut into this one year mark that we were going to combine the living characters with the dead ones for a one shot strip with them as actually the jedi spirits, but we cut the story short and got them back alive. Confused yet? Yeah, totally.

I love the starwars universe and if I had the cash I would purchase all the starwars comic book series. I also love playing the games from the strategy ones to playing a jedi – jedi academy (not a great game, but you get to play all sorts of jedi), KoToR (Knights of the Old Republic) worth a play thru for both light side first then go dark side. Dark side seems soooo much more worth it.

I think Matt felt we should encapsulate some of the Filipinos into the strip or at least reference them a little more as I am Filipino, except I draw Don less Asian and more just random Mexican. Kamusta kayo! My tagalog is terrible, I’ve got the reading and writing proficiency as a 5 year old its so sad. I’d like to learn it eventually, but understanding it works fine for me. Although, from my experience of speaking with people back in the islands, they’re pretty much limited to catch phrases heard on MTV or the like… I fear for their future where TLC teaches Filipinos how to speak English…. (mix tv and sex bomb!!!)

I had some time run through some initial sketches and even went as far as testing and prepping for a ustream of me actually drawing the comic and wrapping it up. The only problem with doing the ustream was to actually test it out for much longer… my test consisted of just my desktop putting on the show while my laptop watched, geeky kids know all about that. I should have tested a stream longer than 2 to 5 mins prior to the event, just a slight step back for the ustreaming until I can figure out how to handle the setup. You can enjoy what was recorded after the comic sketches and the final image.
