Sock Puppet Theater was probably the cheapest theater show I’ve attended, FREE. It’s also probably the first time I’ve “acted” for an audience, usually myself or my brother or maybe even my parents. My mind is pretty vague on those memories under the age of 8 or however old I started making up childhood memories.
This is also probably where I began first use of facial impressions, well besides using my own face… I like to think I have pretty good range of facial expressions, but when I watch myself in the mirror (like all the time). It seems like I cycle through the same faces, but when I make faces at other people or usually babies I think I reach some very unique expressions.
One thing about facial expressions, for me, is that I can’t think the expression and put it on. I have to think of some sort of event that brings about these faces, but how can you put on face that you felt this expression if you didn’t know what that face actually looked like? For example, if you happy face comes out when you’re thinking or feeling constipated, how would you know that was the expression you had on your face for that particular feeling? I let everyone know thats why I carry around a mirror with me, like a compact. Its not for makeup or anything cause thats just for girls… Yeah… its for my facial expressions…
Here are some roughs and then the final image. I went thru a few sketches that I didn’t scan only cause I liked these examples the most without being too overboard.
